“And to him they had regard, because that of longtime he had bewitched them with sorceries.” – Acts 8:11. The scripture refers to a sorcerer in Samaria by the name, Simon. First, length of time at anything produces fortified effects.
Second, they regarded him meaning they gave him place, they reckoned with him, they accepted his control; they had respect unto his influence, they submitted unto him; how? By the means of bewitchment. However, the strength of the bewitchment was not in the potency of the sorceries but in the persistent, uninterrupted engagement of the sorceries; ‘….for of longtime he had bewitched them’.
For instance, Paul’s daily engagement culminated in special miracles. As is written in Acts 19:9b-11:
“…. Separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greek. And God wrought (RESPONDED) special miracles by the hands of Paul: so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”
This we must know, when spells and enchantments are conjured or activated to bewitch a family or an individual there must be specific activities actively reoccurring in other to fortify the bewitchment as a stronghold. Even the effectiveness of the gospel of Jesus is reliant on the repetitive activities of prayer and the word to become a force in any territory as expressed in the book of Acts of the Apostles:
“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; a great company of the priest were obedient to the faith.” – Acts6:4; 19:9b-11.
